From Copper to Digital Ownership: Monty Metzger to Keynote at Wyoming Global Technology Summit

At the invitation of Jack Selby, Managing Director of Thiel Capital, and the Jackson Hole Technology Partnership, Toto Finance Founder Monty C. M. Metzger will deliver a keynote at the 13th Annual Wyoming Global Technology Summit on September 10 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

His address, Tokenization: How Digital Ownership Unlocks the Wealth of the World, will mark the first public keynote preview of Metzger's forthcoming book, Tokenization: Capital for Humanity, with a particular focus on commodity tokenization, critical minerals and the emergence of what he calls the Ownership Age.

In the book, Metzger describes tokenization as unfolding in three waves: Money, Markets and Matter. Money established the rails (stablecoins), Markets are bringing financial assets onchain (tokenized stocks), and Matter represents the much larger move into the physical economy (tokenized commodities).

I believe commodity tokenization is the largest single opportunity of the Ownership Age, as trillions of dollars in real-world assets and commodity markets move onchain, Metzger writes.

For Toto Finance, that third wave begins with the assets on which the modern economy depends: copper, critical minerals, rare earths and energy.

Copper in the Age of AI

The artificial intelligence boom is rapidly becoming a commodities story. The buildout of data centers requires enormous investment in power generation, transmission, cooling and electrical infrastructure, increasing demand for copper and other strategic materials at the same time that governments are seeking more resilient supply chains for critical minerals and rare earths.

These resources have consequently moved beyond conventional commodity policy. They are increasingly intertwined with AI infrastructure, industrial competitiveness, energy security and national security.

Yet the markets connecting resources, producers, capital and industrial buyers remain fragmented. Information is distributed across geological reports, producers, trading houses, brokers and private databases, while multiple layers of intermediation often separate the owner of a resource from the capital or buyer seeking it.

Toto Finance sees tokenization as an opportunity to redesign that market structure.

Building the Commodity Tokenization Category

Toto Finance is building Mine to Market, a digital infrastructure designed to connect verified commodities and natural resource rights more directly with global capital.

Rather than simply creating a digital representation of copper or another commodity, the platform is intended to establish a verifiable record across the lifecycle of the asset, from resource and production data through ownership, financing, transaction and delivery.

Blockchain can provide a common infrastructure through which information and ownership are verified and transferred, reducing unnecessary layers of intermediation and giving producers a more direct connection to investors and industrial buyers.

This is particularly relevant for in-ground resources and future production. Traditional commodity finance already uses instruments such as offtake agreements, royalties and streaming contracts to convert future production into present capital. Tokenization can make those markets more transparent, programmable and globally accessible.

The opportunity, in Toto Finance's view, is therefore much larger than putting commodities on a blockchain. It is about establishing verifiable digital ownership for the physical economy and creating a new capital market around resources that have historically been difficult to access and finance.

Why Jackson Hole

The Wyoming Global Technology Summit brings together leaders across technology, investment, energy and public policy. Participants include U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon, Audrey Robertson of the U.S. Department of Energy, Jack Selby of Thiel Capital, Wesley Chan of FPV Ventures, Drew Oetting of 8VC, Scott Nolan of Founders Fund and Manfredi Lefebvre of Heritage Group.

The program is particularly relevant to Toto Finance. Metzger's keynote follows sessions on critical minerals, energy infrastructure, supply chain resilience and economic security, including a discussion hosted by Selby with senior representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Navy and the defense innovation ecosystem.

As AI, electrification and national industrial strategies increase competition for copper and critical minerals, Toto Finance is positioning itself at the intersection of two major shifts: the growing strategic importance of physical resources and the transition toward digital ownership.

Verified commodities. Digital ownership. Global capital.
The largest wave of tokenization has barely begun.
